Reminder to Self-Quarantine, Avoid Gatherings

Dear Summit Public Schools Community,

Happy New Year! It is a wonderful feeling to welcome our Hilltopper community to 2021. I hope everyone had a terrific winter break and holiday season and took the time to disconnect and spend quality time with loved ones. After a restful winter break, our school community can kick off the second half of the school year recharged, refreshed, and ready to go.

Today was our first day of remote learning, which will continue for the next ten days before our return to in-person learning on Thursday, January 14, 2021. As a reminder, the purpose of utilizing remote learning for these ten days is to provide students, staff, and families time to self-quarantine and avoid gatherings following winter break. The success of this plan relies on everyone’s cooperation and adherence to the quarantine and safety guidelines. I thank everyone in advance for following these protocols so students and staff can return to a safe and healthy in-person learning environment.

Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 over the next ten days is to continue to follow the Department of Health’s guidelines and quarantine for 14 days. If you learn that your child has tested positive for COVID-19, immediately contact the building principal, school nurse, and . We will continue to collaborate with the Department of Health to complete contact tracing and monitor the number of positive cases in our school community, as well as follow their recommendations of closing in any capacity.

Thank you for your ongoing support, efforts, and trust. Once again, Happy New Year!

Be well,

Scott D. Hough
