NJSLA Assessments and Upcoming STEAM Carnival

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Please allow me the opportunity to thank you for your partnership in making this school year an incredible success! It is truly incredible to reflect on how much our community has accomplished academically, athletically, and socially because of our strong family-school-community partnership. It is a true testament to the power of our Hilltopper spirit of tenacity and compassion. Thank you!

As we approach the end of the 2020-2021 school year, the Office of Curriculum and Instruction would like to share some important updates and information:

New Jersey Student Learning Assessments
Last week, the NJDOE notified all school districts that the NJSLA for ELA, Math and Science has been cancelled for this Spring. However, the NJDOE will be requiring all districts to administer the Start Strong Assessments in fall 2021 to all students in English Language Arts grades 4-10, Mathematics grades 4-8, Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra II, and Science grades 6, 9, and 12. School districts will be given the flexibility to administer the assessment between September 13, 2021 and October 22, 2021. As we receive more information regarding the assessment, we will share it with the community.

STEAM Carnival
On May 22nd from 10 am to noon, the District will be offering a virtual STEAM carnival for students in grades K-5. Three 30 minute sessions will be available for students in grades K-2 and grades 3-5. Students can register for one or multiple sessions. Please view the flyer for more information. Although the District will supply most of the supplies for each activity, there may be some activities that require some supplies from home.

Please reach out to the Office of Curriculum and Instruction if you have any additional questions. As always, we appreciate your partnership.

Warmest regards,

Jennifer McCann
Director of Education
