Glass Art Description:
Students will make a series of fused-glass projects, bringing items home the following week. No fire or heat is involved – everything is fired in kilns at our studio between sessions. Instructors will help students learn the basics of glass fusing, along with learning to handle different types of glass materials. Seeing their results week after week will help improve their designs and build their creative skills.
Exploring The Great Arts
Introductory class for children to get to know the great artists! Each week will feature a different artist and their artistic style. The class will begin with the literature on Getting To Know The World's Greatest Artists. Children will then be given an opportunity to create their own artistic masterpiece in the style of the artist being studied that week.
Save the date: The Harlem Wizards will be back April 6, 2025. The Harlem Wizards will travel to Summit to play against our teachers! This is Brayton’s biggest fundraiser and largest public event of the year.
This event can't happen without help from our Brayton Parents! To make it a success we need a committee to support co-chairs, Amy McDevitt and Nina Meiler, as they plan a family fun event for the Summit Community. Committee roles include working with the schools to promote it and sell out the auditorium, arranging concessions, securing teachers and local community members to participate and coordinating volunteers. We need you! Please contact harlemwizards@braytonschoolpto.com to get involved.
Brayton's Got Talent - A chance for our kids to have their moment in the spotlight!
The Show will be taking place on the evening of February 7th at 7pm on our school stage and we can’t wait to see what talents our students have! Soloists or groups can participate in a two-minute performance of their choosing. The show is open to all grades!
Sign ups for performers will be on Thursday, December 19th at 9:30am. (See below for more information)
5th Graders: You get the special privilege of running the show! Fancy yourself a standup comedian or circus ringmaster? Love the microphone? Sign up to be an Emcee (Master of Ceremonies). Or run the show backstage and help performers with props, curtains, mic and lights on our Stage Crew.
Emcees and Stage Crew sign up sheets will be posted in the 5th Grade Classrooms on Thursday, December 19th until Monday January 6th. Emcee auditions will take place afterschool on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025. Emcee and Stage Crew must be available the week of February 3rd.
Note: If you’re an Emcee or Stage Crew you cannot perform in an Act as well.
Parent Volunteers: As a PTO sponsored event, we need a variety of parent volunteer roles to be filled. We will be sharing a sign up link in the coming week, but if you would like to get involved early feel free to reach out to us at bgt@braytonschoolpto.com.
While there are a multitude of ways you can help, we are hoping to fill the following role ASAP:
Music Coordinator: Need an organized individual to work with each of the acts on their musical choices. Ensuring all music is submitted in the proper format and assemble a playlist for a seamless playback on the day of the show. Ideally this person would be willing to attend rehearsals and show, however that is not a requirement.
We hope you can join our team and help make this show a success!
Sign Up Procedure - PLEASE READ!
As mentioned above, sign ups for a spot for BGT will take place on Thursday 12/19 at 9:30am via "My Account" on the braytonschoolpto.com website.
1. There are 30 spots available.

3. This is a first come, first served sign up. We anticipate this to be full within a few minutes. You must go through the entire check out process including "saving your cart and checking out," even though there is no cost to sign up - the spots are $0. Please ensure you know your user ID and password to our website ahead of time and ensure you are logged in before the sign up goes live. You will need to refresh your screen at 9:30 to have the sign up appear in the "Store and Data forms" section of "My Account."

5. Once the spots are full, the Brayton's Got Talent committee will be sending out a google form to the email addresses secured during the sign up process to gather more information about the spot. Ex: Talent, Group participants, etc.
6. A wait list will be in place and is available in the same sign up location on our website. Please do NOT sign up for the wait list if the regular sign up is available. If either the regular sign up or wait list is not listed, it is full. Thank you for your understanding.
If you have any questions about BGT, please contact the BGT team here. If you have questions about the website or sign up process, please contact us here.
Please Donate - December 2nd through December 20th!
Brayton Elementary School and the Summit Police Department are collaborating in an effort to collect new and unwrapped toys for children in need. We would appreciate your support in assisting with our Toys for Tots drive. Students can bring in donations and leave them in the bin in front of Miss Esposito's office. Please reach out to Miss Esposito at aesposito@summit.k12.nj.us if you have any questions.
We are excited to announce that Brayton's annual International Night is back!
SAVE THE DATE for Thursday January 23rd, 7:00-8:30pm in the Brayton Gym.
This special event celebrates the incredible diversity in our school community by highlighting different cultures, traditions, food, and more. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our families to learn about the many countries represented in our school, share in cultural pride, and enjoy a vibrant evening together.
We invite families to participate by hosting tables to represent a country, sharing traditional dishes, or showcasing elements of cultural heritage through clothing, music, art, and activities. It’s an evening full of fun and learning for everyone... students can even enter in a raffle to win prizes. Please see our Frequently Asked Questions here. Spanish here.
