1. What is Bingo Night? Bingo night is a long standing Brayton fundraiser. It is also the PTO’s biggest fundraiser and if you ask the kids, it is Brayton’s BEST fundraiser. It features several components:

(a) a raffle of Bingo Baskets (b) pizza/bake sale and (c) playing BINGO!

  • (a) Raffle of Bingo Baskets: Themed baskets are put together and sponsored by the PTO, local businesses, and some individual families. Some examples of these baskets are American Girl doll basket, iPod Touch basket, and the family game night basket. The children (and adults) then purchase and enter their ticket(s) for the drawing of the basket of their choice. The actual drawing of the winners is held the evening of the event, with the winners of the baskets announced at the closing of the night. You do not need to be present at the actual event to purchase and enter your tickets. (see FAQ 6 for more information).
  • (b) Pizza/Bake Sale: The first hour of the event is the pizza party and bake sale, which is sponsored and run by Brayton’s 5th graders. Pizza must be ordered and paid for when the reservation is placed. Baked goods and water will be available for sale that night.
  • (c) Bingo: While the basket committee chairs and Dr. Moretz are pulling the tickets of the winners of the baskets, the rest of the attendees settle in for 5-6 games of Bingo fun. There are 4 rooms of Bingo – the gym, the cafeteria, the art room and the library.  Please note that the library is open for 5th grade students ONLY. At the conclusion of the Bingo games, Dr. Moretz will announce the winner of each Bingo basket over the loudspeaker.  Winners take their prizes home that night!

2.  When and how do I RSVP? In October, an e-blast will be distributed outlining the details of the event and a link to the online reservation form. This link may also be found on the home page of the PTO website, www.braytonschoolpto.com on that day. Please sign up within 48 hours, as this event has always “sold” out. If you do not have a reservation, you cannot attend.

3.  How do I order pizza? Pizza orders are placed on the same online form that you will complete for your reservation. We sell pizza by the whole pie (8 slices) for or by the slice.

4.  How do I pay for my pizza? Pizza orders must be paid for in advance, online via Paypal. Once you have completed your online reservation form and entered in the amount of pizza you would like, confirm in the last box your total amount due. Then, click the SUBMIT button. You will be automatically taken to the Paypal page to complete your online payment. Using Paypal, you may pay with a credit card, or directly from your bank account.

5. My family doesn’t like pizza. Can we still come? Most definitely! You and your family are welcome to come and enjoy the baked goods, purchase some chances on the baskets and play bingo. Simply complete the reservation portion of the form (do not enter a pizza order) and click SUBMIT on the form. No money will be due when you submit your form, unless you make an additional donation to the PTO.

6.  How do I purchase tickets/chances for the baskets? There are several ways to purchase tickets/chances for the baskets.

  • The first option is through advance raffle ticket sales.  Avoid the lines during Bingo night and purchase your tickets on the blacktop the Thursday before the event from 2:45-3:30 or Friday (the day of the event) from 2:45-3:30.
  • The second option is at the ticket sales tables the night of Bingo. You can purchase tickets from 6:00-7:00pm and then enter them in the basket(s) of your choice. The basket raffle will close promptly at 7:00 p.m.
  • If you cannot attend Bingo Night, you can still participate in the raffle. (1) Buy your tickets at the advance raffle ticket sales, then, go inside the school and put your tickets in your favorite baskets.  The school will be open from 3:00-3:30 or (2) complete the Absentee Purchase Form and return it with your payment to the office by 1:00 p.m. on the day of Bingo Night.  We will put your tickets in the bags for you. This form will be sent home in the coming weeks.

7. Where do the proceeds go? The PTO receives the proceeds of the tickets sales of the Bingo baskets. As you know, the PTO uses their funds to pay for many events and programs at Brayton, including Cultural Arts assemblies, maintenance of the Learning Garden, and capital improvements to the school facilities.  All the proceeds from the pizza and the bake sale go to the 5th grade graduation festivities. Under the law, we cannot charge for the actual playing of Bingo.

8. What do you mean the event “sells” out? Bingo is run in 4 spaces – the cafeteria, the gym, the art room and the library (reserved for 5th grade students only). These rooms can only seat a certain number of people, and this is why we limit the number of reservations. Each year we receive enough reservations to fill these spaces. Any reservations over and above the cap are placed on a waiting list.  We will do our best to accommodate late reservations, but space is limited.

9.  Do we get tickets for entering Bingo Night? No, on the evening of the event, simply enter the building through the main entrance on Tulip Street and provide the volunteers working at the door with your family’s last name. You will be handed a packet containing enough bingo cards for your reservation and a card showing your pizza order (if applicable).  You will then use the card to pick up any pizza ordered.

10. What should I bring with me to Bingo Night? If you are attending Bingo Night for the first time, you may not know what to expect.  Please see above for Bingo Raffle ticket purchase details- tickets are $1 each. If you have not purchased tickets in advance, please bring cash or a check made out to Brayton PTO for your raffle tickets.  You may also want to bring a small amount of cash to purchase bottled water and baked goods sold by the 5th grade class. Lastly, bring the family! Our students LOVE this event.
